Bariatric Surgery Pre-Op and Post-Op Instructions
CONFIRM YOUR TRAVEL & SUBMIT CONSENT FORMS
You must email your patient coordinator your flight itinerary so that we make the correct travel arrangements for you based on your arrival time four to five weeks before surgery.
PRE-OP MEDICAL TESTS
Once you arrive, our medical team will perform routine pre-op tests, including blood work, EKG, and chest X-rays to ensure you’re ready for surgery.
SETTLE INTO YOUR ROOM
Your patient coordinator will help you settle into your room while the nurses begin prepping you for surgery.
PRE-OP TESTS
Before you go into the OR, the medical staff will run pre-op tests (blood work and EKG) to make sure you’re in surgical condition
MEET YOUR SURGEON
You will be meeting and talking to the surgical team, who will make sure any questions or concerns are answered before you go into the OR. You will not go into the OR without meeting your surgeon.
RECOVERY AREA
Once the surgery is done, you will be in a recovery area until all of the anesthesia has worn off and then will be taken to your room.
DISCHARGE
Before you head home, the medical staff will run more post-op tests to make sure everything is alright.
POST–OP INSTRUCTIONS
Before you leave, you’ll receive your post-op guide. This includes medication info, wound care, mobility, hydration, and your first week’s nutrition plan. You’ll also begin your weekly calls with our nutritionist to guide your recovery.
POST-OP FOLLOW-UP PROCESS
Once you’re home, your coordinator and nutrition team will continue checking on your progress. We’ll monitor your weight loss, address any discomfort, and ensure you’re on the right path — you’re never alone.
